Christ Community Church
Corporate Calling Statement
PURPOSE (Why are we here?): Christ Community Church exists to make the kingdom reign of the Lord Jesus Christ visible through people who are being transformed by the gospel of God’s grace in Christ Jesus, that God may receive the honor and glory He alone deserves.
VALUES (What is important to us?):
- The Gospel of the Kingdom
- A clear message - justification by grace through faith alone.
- True Freedom – resisting the pull toward legalism in its many forms
- Scripture – Our highest authority is the voice of God speaking through the written Word of God. God is not known truly apart from the Bible.
- Holiness – God’s Spirit in a believer is the only power that can transform a sinful human being. The gospel is good news for Christians too! Christ-likeness grows through faith!
- Authenticity – The gospel creates an atmosphere of genuine honesty vs. pretending and hiding
- Honoring Our King
- In God-centered worship that is doxological, participatory, understandable, and intergenerational.
- In biblical community - sharing life together vs. being isolated, private Christians. By grace we are citizens of the Kingdom of God!
- Through prayerthat expresses daily dependence on God for all things and recognizes His sovereign government of our lives.
- Through maturing disciples – we’re not just after converts, but after followers.
- In our giving – we are stewards of the time, talents and treasures God has entrusted to us.
- In Mission: reaching people in our community who have rejected “church” but haven’t met Jesus. Christ has not called us to isolate ourselves from the world. He has called us out of the world to belong to Him and has sent us back into the world to be witnesses and servants as we live out the callings God has given us in our homes, schools, places of work, etc. God has placed us in this place at this time to serve Him. God’s Kingdom includes the nations. Our hearts need to be drawn into God’s passion for the lost.
VISION (What do we want to see happen?):
Christ has not only freed us from our sins, He “has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father” (Rev. 1:5-6). As a community of redeemed people, we want to be caught up in our King’s passion for making all things new by living in such a way that the future fullness of the Kingdom of God will break into the present visibly and tangibly, making it clear to a watching culture that “God has made this Jesus…both Lord and Christ” (Acts 2:36)
